Privacy
The short version: your writing is yours, nobody here reads it, and there are no trackers on this site. The longer version is below, in plain English.
What we collect
Three things, and nothing else.
- Your email address and password, so you can sign in and find your work again. Passwords are stored encrypted by our database provider — we never see them.
- Whatever you write in the app — your books, characters, outlines and drafts — so it saves and follows you between devices.
- An anonymous tally when someone downloads a free printable. It records a label such as "blueprint_download" and nothing else. No name, no email, no address, nothing that could point back to a person.
What we don't do
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no session recording, nothing watching how you move around.
- No advertising, and no ad networks.
- We never sell, rent or share your personal information.
- We don't read your writing, and we never use it to train anything. There is no AI in this tool.
- No marketing emails. Signing up doesn't put you on a list, because there isn't one.
- Downloading a free printable requires no email address at all.
Cookies and browser storage
My Outliner stores things in your browser for two reasons only: to keep you signed in, and to hold your work so nothing is lost if your connection drops. That's it. There are no tracking or advertising cookies, which is why you aren't being asked to accept any.
Who else is involved
Running a website means a handful of other companies are part of it. We keep the list as short as we can — the fonts, for instance, are served from this site rather than from Google, so nobody else sees you just for reading a page. These are the ones that remain:
| Netlify | Hosts the site. Like every web host, their servers log requests, including IP addresses, for security and reliability. |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Stores accounts and your writing, and handles signing in. |
| Stripe | Handles subscription payments. Card details go straight to Stripe — they never reach us and we never see them. |
| jsDelivr | Delivers one open-source code library the app needs to run. |
Your writing belongs to you
Everything you create here is yours. You can download your whole book as a Word document, a PDF or plain text at any time, including after a free trial ends. Exports carry no My Outliner branding, because your work isn't ours to put a name on.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it entirely. Deleting your account removes your books along with it, permanently. To ask for any of that, email hello@myoutliner.com and we'll take care of it.
You can also delete any individual book yourself from the My Books page at any time.
How long we keep things
Your account and your writing stay until you ask us to delete them. The anonymous download tallies are just counts and are kept indefinitely, since there's nothing in them to identify anyone.
Children
My Outliner isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything from them.
If this changes
If we ever change how any of this works, this page changes with it and the date below is updated. We won't quietly start collecting something new.
